My wife and I met at a dog show in 1996 just as my parents did in the 50's.  Our love for the 

dogs brought us together, and we went to work as a team.  Annette introduced herself to dogs 

at a young age and those beautiful reddogs the Irish setter were her destiny.  She now has 

bred. shown and finished under the Pompei prefix multiple CH Irish setters and she bred the 

top winning Irish setter in the history of the breed CH Pompei's The American Way JH Whitney.  

With 45 all breed best in shows, I think Annette is a big attribute to this wonderful breed.  

Annette also won best of breed at the Westminster dog show in 2002 with a beautiful bitch ch 

Reainwoods impetuous JH is currently very active in field work with her Irish setters.  She truly 

believe in the dogs doing what they were bred for.  She also does rally and obedience and is 

dedicated to this breed.  Annette also specializes in Portuguese Water Dogs (PWDs) and has 

a great hand with most all breeds.

OK!  I'm Van and I've been in dogs all my life.  As my Mom says, the first show I went to was 

when she was 8 months pregnant with me.  So, I guess I went to the dogs at a very young age.  

I've been showing dogs for 30 plus years starting with my parents and English setters moving 

up to assisting with one of the top handlers of all time, Corky Vroom.  He showed multiple 

breeds and that opened the door for me to become a successful handler.  He and his wife 

honed the skills I learned from my family, and we went on to be a great team before I went out 

on my own.  I started in sporting dogs; however, while working for the Vrooms my love for the 

Bouvier Des Flanders was soon seen.  I now specialize in Bouvs.  I have shown multiple Best in 

Show Bouvs as well as the 2002 Westminster best of Breed winner, what a thrill!  I was 

fortunate enough to work with the most special Bouv there ever was Ch. Galbraiths Iron Eyes.  

What a dog, the #1 Bouvier of all time with 101 BEST IN SHOWS.  Iron taught me about 

Bouviers, and it was an honor to take care of  him.  He was an amazing dog.  I turned 

professional in 1993 and have shown Best in Show winners from the toy, working, herding and 

sporting groups.  I show multiple breeds, but I have a thing for pugs and bulldogs also.  We are
